Video muestra a un oso polar desnutrido a causa del cambio climático

Esta semana se difundió en redes sociales el perturbador video de un oso polar en malas condiciones de salud, el cual ambula por la Isla de Baffin, en el Ártico canadiense, para buscar algo de comida.

En las imágenes se puede observar al oso agotado caminando con esfuerzo sobre la porción de tierra para conseguir alimento, incluso en un momento se ve como saca algo de basura de un bote.

Paul Nicklen es el autor del material, un fotógrafo que publicó el verano pasado junto a la fundación Sea Legacy este fragmento dedicado a la conservación de la vida marina.

“Así es como se ve el hambre. Los músculos se atrofian. No hay energía. Es una muerte lenta y dolorosa. Mi equipo entero de Sea Legacy estaba luchando contra las lágrimas y sus emociones mientras documentábamos a este oso polar muriendo”, cuenta el fotógrafo en su publicación.

Sin embargo varios usuarios criticaron a Paul y a su equipo por documentar al animal si hacer algo para ayudarlo o alimentarlo.

Pese a esto, el fotógrafo dio una explicación del motivo por el cual no lo pudo ayudar, al igual mencionó que en Canadá es ilegal alimentar a los osos polares salvajes.

“La simple verdad es esta: si la Tierra continúa calentándose, perderemos osos polares y ecosistemas enteros”, comenta Paul.
